Francis Blackwell Forbes is the son John Murray Forbes. He was a clergyman, and a member in good standing of the Forbes family. He was the greatgrandson of Rev. John Forbes, the grandson and great-grandson James Grant Forbes. He was also a pioneer of Chinese botany and was responsible to promote the Shanghai Country Club.
